This is a Norwegian prototype condenser mic, made from high-tech military radar components. It sounds a littlebit like AKG C535 (but better). I used it on most of the east- European string instruments. It's called SYMFON BC-10 and it was developed and made by Thorleif Holm-Glad. Unfortunately, this great mic never got in production. Not sure why, but one of the reasons must be that it would cost a small fortune.

I've got two of this microphone, or more correct, its predecessor Amphon BL-9. A great mic, very well designed and manufactured, but unfortunately the people behind it used all their money on development and production equipment, and in the end lacked funds for promoting the product. The Symphon BL-10 is the same mic backed by a new ownership, who also went bankrupt.
ReplyDeleteI use them for "opera" voices, bass drum, double bass and for instruments needing some softening of the top end.
I own an Amphon BL-9. A wonderful microphone I used for years to amplify my voice. I'm a jazz singer
